Native understanding of the source text + native expression in the target language
Completely bilingual French / (UK) English. I have divided my time between the two countries since childhood.
Native ability in both languages, with 18 years' experience in medical translation, I am a qualified doctor and also have an MBA in marketing. My copywriting skills are of a very high standard in both English and French, and many of my regular customers in this field are prestigious, high-profile organisations.
On the basis of my previous professional experience, I primarily translate the following types of document, in the medical, pharmaceutical and cosmetic fields:
clinical research papers
congress communications
clinical trials and notices of conformity
sales documentation / marketing materials
patient inserts
I have translated magazine articles and newsletters for various professional bodies and offer copywriting / rewriting services in both languages. I have also co-authored several orthopaedics/traumatology papers, published in high-ranking peer-reviewed medical journals.
Many of my customers are major pharmaceutical companies, teaching hospitals and government bodies. References can be provided, on request.
After taking a BSc course in International Management in the UK, I obtained an MBA equivalent from a top Paris Business School, majoring in Marketing and International Development.
Following graduation I worked in the pharmaceutical / medical devices industry, in both salaried and freelance capacities, ending up as International Marketing Communications Manager for a medical device group, before leaving to attend Medical School as a mature student in my 30s.
In addition to my translation/copywriting work, I continue to practise as a hospital clinician.
My other hobbies include alpine sports, travel, genealogy, DIY and cooking.
