Experience
Years of experience: 10. Registered at ProZ.com: Apr 2015.
I'm a freelance Italian to English translator. My specialisms include the following:
>> Italian history (ancient and modern) and politics, current affairs, travel and tourism sector, art and culture
>> Neuroscience and related disciplines (I wrote my MA thesis on neuroscience translation), health-related and health information texts.
I'm a native English speaker, and an ITI Associate Member.
I have an MA in Italian to English translation (University of Bristol), BA Italian (University of London), BA Latin with Ancient Greek (University of Leicester), and a Diploma in Human Resources Management. I'm currently studying for a PhD (part-time) with the University of London.
Since I only translate from Italian to English I have a high level of language proficiency and cultural awareness, enhanced by spending time in Italy. Previous work experience was in an advisory capacity for the NHS (HR) and for the Department of Employment.
My work is accurate and I take time to assess the correct register in order to produce the best possible result for a client: I am always happy to discuss requirements in detail. I follow the EC English Style Guide (or any preferred style guide) and take pride in carefully editing and proofreading the finished translation. I consider CPD to be extremely important, attend training courses appropriate to my interests and skills, and complete ITI's recommended annual hours of CPD. To maintain and hone my language skills I regularly meet with a native Italian speaker and IT>EN translator. A full CV and my rates are available upon request.
