German to English: Patent regarding a panel construction for modular building General field: Law/Patents Detailed field: Construction / Civil Engineering
Translation - English The invention assumes rectangular panels (1) which have relatively broad channel-like depressions (2) at their narrow lengthways sides, in which depressions in the interior of the panel (1) run steel stabilizing rods (3) which protrude from the ground of the channel-like depressions (2) where they end in rings (4), which rings facilitate a tight connection between the panels with the use of u-shaped hooks or clamps, which are inserted appropriately into the said rings (4). Such an arrangement of channel-like depressions (2) allows connection of the panels both in the same plane and as a corner, wherein the panels are exceptionally well connected with one another and stabilized, to which end the resulting tube-shaped cavity is additionally filled with the same concrete as that which forms the panels (in order as far as possible to ensure homogeneity) and, if necessary, with structural steel reinforcement. These panels form the walls and partitions of the building, while the floors and ceilings are manufactured from similar modules, with the additional contribution of the required necessary structural steel reinforcement and possibly with a different bulk density of the concrete. Hereby is facilitated on the one hand an industrial large-scale series production of all elements (panels, modules) and on the other hand a quick and easy assembly of any required building.

Bio
I am an Oxford University Masters graduate and have translated in one form or another since I started to learn Latin at the age of 11. Translation from Latin and Greek into English was a major part of my Bachelor's and Master's degrees.
I moved to Germany after my Master's degree, having spent a year at the prestigious Stiftung Maximilianeum as a student, and after three years at one of the Big Four firms moved into recruitment as a headhunter and researcher. I have always worked in both German and English and translation has always been a part of my work on a minor scale.
Between 2015 and 2018, I worked for 3 years at a patent attorney's firm in Munich, where I became familiar with all stages of the patent process, and where I also started to translate for my firm.
I set up my own company "Charlotte Schmid - Native English" in November 2018 and now work full-time as an independent translator. My focus continues to be high-quality patent translation.
