I was born in a remote village in the middle of Turkey, but my parents had the right idea when they left my umbilical cord to dry in the only Turkish-English dictionary they had at the time. I have been enamored with languages from an early age and could not wait until my university graduation to put that passion into professional use. I started off as a freelance translator in my second year of studying American Culture and Literature at Ege University and have not stopped since. My initial work focused mainly on individual clients from the academia.

After graduation, I enriched my career with transcription in 2007, consecutive interpreting in 2006 and with simultaneous interpreting in 2009. During this period, I started to work with more corporate clients including private companies and ministries in a variety of areas including medicine, law enforcement, and metrology. Since 2009, I alternated between freelancing and on-contract work, which primarily consisted of translation, interpreting, and project management with European Union and World Bank Projects in Turkey. In my freelance years, I worked with different public institutions including the Ministries of Energy, Environment, and Agriculture.

In addition, starting from 2013, I have had the opportunity to work on a freelance basis with high-level public delegations during their travels abroad and to familiarise myself with diplomatic assignments.

As I am relocating to the UK in January 2021, I am in the process of preparing for my Level 6 DPSI Law exam and I am looking for new opportunities where I will be able to put my diverse experience into use, while bringing a more clear focus to my career.
