Bio
Though I was born and raised in the Netherlands, I’ve loved the English language for as long as I can remember. To me, it felt like the most natural thing in the world to speak and write and read in English by the time I was twelve. And read I did – everything from classics to new YA releases to horror novels.
After finishing secondary school, I wanted to study my two passions where they were at home. I emigrated to the UK mere months after turning eighteen, where I received my first-class degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Edinburgh in 2020. A few weeks later, I landed my first translation job at Vertellis, which would kick off the weird and wonderful translation career I'm still building today. I have done a wide range of different projects, the details of which you can read in the CV I've made available in my profile, and I am currently working on my first novel as a part of the ALTA mentorship scheme for Dutch prose.
Studying literature as well as the mechanics of language itself has given me a fantastically balanced approach to translation. My creative flair and attention to detail make me especially suited to translating literature, which is why I’ve chosen this as my specialism. Within literary translations, I am open to projects of every genre and every length. The more variety I get in my work, the happier I am!
