Of Dutch nationality, I was born and partly raised in Germany. As a grown-up I went back two times to live, work, study, marry and have my daughter there. All in all I lived in Germany for more than 17 years. Language has been the main focal point in my livelihood. I started doing translations Eng-Du for a Dutch magazine Bres, while I was still a student at the University of Amsterdam, where I studied Economics, Law and Dutch for several years. I lived in the US for one year while studying Buddhism; moved from there to Germany again. Initially I studied Cultural Anthropology there as well as Buddhism and I worked as a reader for a University-library for blind people in the areas of religion,psychology,pedagogics,social sciences and laws.
I worked as a technical translator (Eng-Ger; Ger-Eng) for the US Army for one year and I taught German and German culture to Americans for several years. I also worked on the translation of protocols and Buddhist texts at that time.
For several years I had my own business in the area of building/ construction with my husband, who is an architect. I have been back in the Netherlands for 9 years now and I started up translating again. I translated fashion catalogues (GER-NL), real estate websites and marketing brochures (GER-NL) as well as Grant Plans for the United Nations (UNV-Suriname; DU-EN)
