I am a native English speaker with 18 years of experience in translating social research texts from Portuguese, Spanish, and French texts into English.
With a Ph.D. in cultural and linguistic anthropology, I bring subject matter expertise to my translations of articles, grant proposals, research reports, and open-end surveys for academics, nonprofit organizations, and market researchers.
I have also translated books in anthropology and history from Portuguese and French into English, such as: From the Enemy's Point of View: Humanity and Divinity in an Amazonian Society, by Eduardo B. Viveiros de Castro (Chicago: University of Chicago Press, 1992, 428 pp.); The Fortress of Salvador in Colonial Brazil, by Luiz Walter Coelho Filho (Petrópolis: KBR Editora, 2014, 424 pp.), and several chapters in Capturing Imagination: A Proposal for an Anthropology of Thought. by Carlo Severi (Chicago: HAU Books, 2018).
My translations respect the author's voice while also making the English text read smoothly and naturally. Since my priority is on helping authors achieve the highest impact through their translations, I do not do rush jobs, gist translations, or any type of postediting of machine pseudo-translation.
The translations I produce are culturally attuned and nuanced, reflecting the familiarity I gained through immersion in source-language communities in Brazil, France, and among U.S. Hispanics.
