English to Norwegian (Bokmal): Michel Rojkind profile excerpt
Source text - English His approach divides the center into three organic-looking forms that rise like rocks on the location. “When you talk about a project this huge,” says Rojkind, “you imagine that it will have a big-city feel — buildings with flashy skins and colors and topologies.”
But that’s not how Rojkind saw it. He lifted his rock-like structures to create shadows on the plazas below, designed thematic bioclimatic courtyards and roof gardens, and enveloped his buildings in airy skins, conceived with contemporary artist Antonio Sánchez. “Based on Antonio’s knowledge of fractal geometry, applied to Islamic motifs, we designed these flowing, translucent, pre-cast concrete forms,” explains Rojkind. “They look perforated, and they let in lots of light.”

I'm a native Norwegian, and aside from an 18 month period in Japan as part of my university degree, I've lived most of my life in Norway. When I was 6 years old my parents were seriously considering moving to the US, so I started learning English at the same time as I started learning to read and write Norwegian. Even though they didn't go through with the move, my studies and interest in the language continued, and today I consider it equivalent to native level. I communicate daily with friends in English and my main forms of entertainment such as books, games and movies are all in English. All this means that I don't just translate when dealing with each language - my actual thought processes are in each language. This gives me an intuitive understanding of the words that allow me to accurately and easily come up with solutions to translation problems in order to effectively communicate their meaning.
My prior professional background mainly comes from having worked 4 years in the telecommunications industry as a network and system administrator. This means that when I'm translating technical materials, not only am I your translator, I'm your quality checker and proof reader as well. There are logic flaws that at first glance may seem fine in the original language, but will be readily apparent when translated. If there is an error or flaw in the document, I will be able to detect it and describe it for you.
In addition I've worked as a freelance subtitler for several years for ADV Films USA, which has given me additional insight into the DVD and television production industry.
I have translated materials used by renowned companies such as Microsoft, Sony, Apple and Epson, among others. Chances are that if you mention the name of a well-known technology company, I've worked on materials for them at some point.
