I had my first brush with translation in 2005 (Spanish to English), while working as a volunteer for Universidad de la Tierra, an NGO based in Oaxaca, Mexico. I returned to India in October that year with my wife, who is Mexican.
I have freelanced as a Spanish-English translator since July 2008, and I started translating from Portuguese to English in mid-2009. I have translated more than 4 million words so far, in fields like business, law, marketing, tourism, IT, education and journalism.
I have a BA in Political Science from the University of Mumbai (2001), where I studied Sociology and Anthropology as well. I have maintained a keen interest ever since in international affairs and the social and environmental sciences. I have worked for several NGOs involved in heritage conservation, urban studies, alternative learning spaces and environmental issues.
I am competent with MS Office suite, as well as OCR (text recognition) software, and use memoQ (and only if strictly necessary, Trados) for CAT.
I have a passion for languages and am presently studying French and German.
