Source text - English Our youngest son began to play the violin when he was eight years old. He quickly gained a passion to play this instrument. He loved the sound of it - so like a human voice! Brad's love for his instrument grew as he matured and became an adolescent, and then later as an adult. Brad enjoyed playing sports. He was a member of the high school swim team. He ran track. He played the trombone for the marching and symphonic bands in high school. In fact, Brad earned the coveted "first chair" position in the trombone section of both of the bands. Brad's love for the violin never dimmed. Brad was a member of both the high school bands and the high school orchestra. Brad also held the highly esteemed position of "first chair," or "concertmaster" in the high school symphony. During his senior year of high school, Brad was a full-time young Artist with the Cleveland Institute of Music. He was also a part-time student of his local high school. Brad graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Music and earned a Master's degree in music performance from the University of Maryland. What would have happened to that marvelous talent if his dad and I had discontinued Brad's lessons when we had tired of "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star?" The early years of constant scales and endless hours of practice have yielded music that calms and stirs the soul.

Years of experience: 40. Registered at ProZ.com: Jul 2007.
I have taught all primary and secondary levels of public and private education, with a specialization in French language. Now I am ready for a new venture. I'm excited about becoming an expert translator and proofreader with the help of Proz.com.
My husband and I have traveled to France seven times. Our favorite region is the Provence. In 2003, my husband and I directed a tour of twenty-two adolescents and four adults to Paris, and then southeast via the TGV to Provence. We have stayed in the homes of French pen pals. In 2000, thirty young people from France came and stayed in the homes of my students for a week. To this date some continue to correspond.
Having retired from the classroom, I retain my skills by tutoring students individually. I am employed by Wyzant.com.
