Translation - English Pappachi did not allow the Paravans to come into the house. Nobody did. They were not allowed to touch anything that the Touchables could touch.
Neither those of the Hindu castes nor those of the Christian castes allowed them that. Mammachi told Estha and Rahel that she remembered those times when, being a little girl, the Paravans had to walk backwards on their knees, erasing their own traces with a small brush, so the Brahmins or the Syrian Christians would not become impure when involuntarily stepping on the foot-steps of the Paravans. In the times of Mammachi's childhood the Paravans, as well as the rest of the Untouchables were not allowed to walk on the public street, to cover the upper part of their body, or to use an umbrella. When they spoke, they were obliged to cover their mouth with their hand, to avoid their breath spreading their impurity to those to whom they spoke.

Source text - English PRINTING OPTIONS
Before any printout, a dialog box pops up which allows a number of options to be chosen.
Top part
· Printer name: Every printer installed on your system can be selected.
· Copies: define the number of copies to be printed. If you printer supports multiple pages as an option, the page will be rendered only once (and printed multiple times). If not, every copy will need to be rendered.
· Properties: depends on the properties of the selected printer.
· Options: almost all printouts can be printed with any number of columns, and in both portrait or landscape orientation. The font size will be determined based on the width a column can take up. Those options can be defined individually for each document. The options you set will be valid for lists and printouts of related nature (e.g. options for the starter list are also valid for the list of participants).
The footer lines can include keywords such as @DATE@ and @TIME@. They will be replaced by the current date and time when the report is being printed. Also the font size of the footer lines can be specified in percent relative to the standard font size.
· Graphics: you can choose any number of graphics that will be printed on each page. The GIF and BMP format are supported. Size 100% means 100 pixels per inch. The position of the graphics is always based on the sheet of paper and the graphics will be printed once per sheet, not once per column.
Middle part
Information specific to a particular printout, such as "event from"..."event to". This part is not available for all printouts.
Choosing the events
In many cases, you will need to choose the events to be included in a list. You can specify the events one by one (e.g. 1, 2, 3, 4), or you can define ranges (e.g. 5-7); you can even mix the two (e.g. 4, 6-9, 1, 2). The events will be printed in the order you specify them.
When printing start or result lists, you can select whole sessions by adding the @ character before the session number (e.g. @3 for session number 3). Only when you select events like this, the additional event entries for finals and main heats for timed finals are considered.
Printing lists grouped by event, you have the option to create one single HTML-file for each event (-> Options). The filenames are generated automatically e.g. "event_00001.htm". In addition, a directory file with links to each event file will be created. The name of the directory file can be specified in the general settings dialog (default is "default.htm").

Translation - English With this piece I want to comment upon identity and acculturation based on language. Even though social prejudices existed previoulsly to the rise of technological communications, the media have shaped the perceptions of both: the ones who discriminate and the ones being segregated.
A foreigner living in Anglophone Canada records her recollections about the identity crisis she experiences in her broken English. Embedding and streaming this piece on the Internet becomes a metaphor for social displacement, presenting the Net as a half real and half virtual location - where "the other" might feel - as well as an underground counter-place from which to protest against Anglocentrism, (especially when the Internet is so Anglophone) and "other centrisms." The hyperlinks, waiting for the audios to load, and the plug-ins requirements, emphasize non-linear narratives, therefore presenting incompleteness as subjective. Far from being utopian locations, VR and cyberspace could evoke those Foucauldian heterotopias – marginal locations where non-mainstream activities take place, where one travels to complete other vignettes of his/her journey. These are also spaces in which many aleatory and simultaneous readings and sensorial experiences are interwoven, and where all the other real locations of culture are represented, contested, and inverted. My feelings needed a location of this type.
In the audio clips, the foreigner's voice articulates fragments of her experience in Canada as an outsider, and rehearses foreign languages pronunciations in order to master them. However, the background music points to ethnic segregation in her country of origin - Spain - throughout history, with the inclusion of flamenco sounds (partly inherited from the Gypsies, originally from India), as well as Sephardic cantos. The rap song, by Algerian singer Khaled, is included here not only as a formal language for contestation in contemporary music, but also to stress Spaniards' Arab roots, and the irony of the discrimination exerted upon this cultural group by certain inhabitants of Spain. Khaled’s commentary on emigrants from the former French colonies in France is self explanatory, and to me it is linked - in the context of my project - to the rejection Spanish speakers from other parts of the globe receive from some peninsular Spaniards, to refer to post and neo colonialism, and Eurocentrism.
The "Repetitive Soundless Movie" is a mental analogy for the silent voice of those who do not meet certain linguistic standards, either due to the impossibility of some to hear and master subtleties of adequate pronunciation of a foreign language, or related to one's personal interest in complete "cultural assimilation. "
The discourse of the empowered, be this power relative or not, aggravated by the existence of cultural stereotypes, intercept certain human narratives, when one is somehow "the other." My commentary also extends to other types of discrimination which trigger crisis of our identities when transhumance and displacement of cultures occur.
