I specialize in the translation and editing of academic journal articles in, broadly speaking, Cultural Studies and the Social Sciences, having obtained my doctorate from Lancaster University (UK) in Cultural Studies of Science (a cultural-linguistic study of popular representations of the Human Genome Project). I am also happy to venture into social scientific studies in other fields (environment, development, new technologies etc.) and welcome the chance to consult with the source text author to ensure the best possible rendering of technical terms with no direct equivalent in English.
Major translation projects in the past include Niklas Luhmann's book The
Reality of the Mass Media and Ulrich Beck's Power in the Global Age
(both for Polity Press).
My current clients include researchers from major independent research institutes as well as from universities in Germany.
I also offer a reasonably priced, quality interpreting (spoken translation) service into and out of German, preferably in the NGO / not-for-profit sector. 21 years' full-time freelance experience and still going strong! Quality, reliability and clear communication are my watchwords. |
