Bio
Hello and welcome!
I'm Jagoda Bien, a professional Polish to English translator and gifted voice-over artist offering over 15 years of related expertise. I am bilingual, but English is my dominant native language (Australian). I studied economics for a year at the University of Gdańsk, however, certain life changes brought me to study English philology at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland.
My background includes working in corporate environments and, in addition to providing document translation services, managing the administrative and operational elements of multilingual projects for enterprises that operate internationally. Being a translator myself, I have a firm grasp of the entire process of a translation project and I cooperate with a small group of trusted vendors to help serve my clients' needs.
Outside of my professional work, I am also an actress at a local theatre - a hobby that aligns with my other profession: voice-over acting. I'm versed in cold reading, improvisation, and characterization skills, and have extensive experience working in recording studios for a broad range of VO projects.
In 2018 I was selected by recruitment by the Pilecki Institute to take an intensive course "Translation in history", aiming to train skills in this field of expertise, which led to participation in translating historical documents for the project "Chronicles of Terror" (https://www.zapisyterroru.pl/dlibra).
My originally creative knack for writing, interests as well as extensive experience (professionally and personally) have caused me to develop a deep understanding of the languages and cultures I work with.
I look forward to working with you!
