English to Hungarian: The Ancient Greek
Source text - English In war, there was nothing that thrilled them more than a fight to the death. In peacetime, they couldn't just take in a poetry reading, listen to a concert or watch a play. They had to enliven the proceedings with a poetry contest, a music contest, adrama contest. There always had to be a declared winner on whom the laurels could be heaped and at least one miserable loser.

Translator, Volunteer Manager and Author of "Her First Secret" and "Her Secret Admirer".
Once upon a time, in an era of mass production, media and all, there lived a little girl who still believed in fairy tales, that the good must defeat evil. Hence she refused to grow up, helping people discover themselves and the true meaning of values on her way. Values that are long forgotten. Her task hasn't been easy, but she enjoys the process. And she doesn't want to stop there. She wants to create something that tells the story. A story that everyone can relate to. A story that helps people find out who they really are, where they really belong. And most importantly: what truly matters. So she started to write it all down. And she wouldn't stop until it's complete. if it will ever be complete...
It all started with a dream...
Her First Secret
They meet by accident.
She dreams about him,
afraid to face reality.
She keeps it as a secret.
Then they meet again
and her world turns upside down
as he makes her question
all the things she once believed in.
But is this the first time they go through this?
Or were they more than just dreams?
Her First Secret: Compelling New Romance Novel Proves Love Really Can Be a Thing of Dreams…
Timea Tokes’ ‘Her First Secret’ follows the gripping story of a young female dreamer; someone whose dreams of love are so perfect that they start to transpose into reality. Bringing together themes of memories, hope and the power of mystic, Tokes weaves together a heartstring-tugging adventure readers won’t forget any time soon.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
United Kingdom – For those struggling to find love, dreams are often their only escape. That’s exactly the passion of Lia, protagonist in Timea Tokes’ ‘Her First Secret’. However, miraculously, she actually meets the knight falling in love with her through her medieval dreams.
What ensues is a traditional romantic adventure with a wholly-modern twist. Ultimately, the entire ‘Her First and Last Secret Admirer’ series will be deep exploration of the core of humanity’s spirit.
“This is a story about finding love in the most unlikely of places, realising you lose your chance to be with that person, and then letting fate take its cause until you meet again,” explains the author. “There’s also other forces at work; a mystical stranger starts sending Lia online messages and providing inspiration for her to figure her life out. As the past and present clash, a new kind of future for Lia could emerge.”
Continuing, “While it’s romantic fiction and bares all of its hallmarks, I ultimately want all women to see a part of themselves in Lia. We all dream of a knight galloping in on a white horse, and my book will compel readers to weight up how much of life is fate, and how much of our destiny we create for ourselves.”
Readers have come out in force with positive reviews. Graham Robertson comments, “A fascinating, compelling and enjoyable read. Much more than "just" a romantic tale, it's also about memories, hope and much else besides. It's difficult to say more without spoiling the story but I would highly recommend it and greatly look forward to the sequel from this exciting new voice.”
Karen adds, “Beautifully written and compelling, fascinating story. Couldn't put the book down. Hope there is a sequel and recommend it to all.”
Ironically, there are three sequels in the works. ‘Her Secret Admirer’, ‘His Secret Love’ and ‘Their Last Secret’ are due for imminent release.
My main aim is to create something unique, something that people enjoy reading, whether it is a book or a translation.
