Bio
Going beyond the the cold facts in a CV, and attempting to demonstrate one’s level of understanding/expertise in the subjects one claims as expertise/experience areas......

First, my studies at Oxford were in Natural Sciences (Chemistry) and this background, plus my early industrial experience as described below, has enabled me to have a relatively broad business/scientific/medical/pharmaceutical (my French wife is a practising paediatrician in a teaching hospital, but also with her own private practice) baggage to call upon.

After a substantial period spent in the chemical, medical and pharmaceutical industries, I spent the remainder of my salaried professional career in the IT industry, first as a systems engineer, and later devoting my time to management and marketing in all its forms. In these roles I gained significant experience in almost all aspects of business and commerce including the international side, as the last 15 years were spent in the European headquarters of a major American company.

An industrial/marketing background and extensive personal life experience in France means I have acquired a fairly profound understandng of French language, literature, way of life and the workings of its institutions. The majority of current translations are in the area of reports from Governmental and similar institutions (la Cour des Comptes, le Haut Conseil pour la Santé Publique, etc), with a suitable leavening of business and travel and scientific projects.

In addition - although not an everyday occurrence - I have enjoyed the opportunity to translate a book, a most rewarding experience.

I do not have translation diplomas - just satisfied agencies that keep me busy.
