Dear all,
I have noticed that when you answer a question that is then closed based on the "community grading" option, you don't get email notification if your answer wasn't chosen. Why? I like to know what happens in the and with my answers, if they are helpful or not. You don't get either any notification when the asker decides to close early.

I find them totally confusing - it's never quite clear whether the question is open or closed, nor which answer was finally chosen. How can you have two chosen answers? Which one goes in the glossary and who puts it there?

About 72 hours after this submission, the system will grade the question in accordance with the following criteria:
a) If none of the answers has a net peer grading (agrees minus disagrees) of 2 or more, then the option selected by the asker will be used.
b) If at least one answer has a net peer grading higher than 1 and one of the answers has a net peer grading higher than the others, then this answer will be selected.
c) If at least one answer has a net peer grading higher than 1 and two or more answers share the same top peer grading, the answer posted last will be selected. The logic behind this criterion is that all those agreed to the second answer have seen the first one and still voted for the second, therefore preferring the second answer, while those that voted for the first one may not have seen the second answer when voted.

Some people assign points/agrees in a robotic way, without thinking or checking whether they should put their agree for a certain answer. They even sometimes do it because 2 or 3 other peers did it, and solely for this reason, without actually knowing much about the answer.
So obviously, no much difference between robots and humans, in some instances.

The present system was designed in response to concerns about questions being closed too early. Previously, waiting 24 hours was only a recommendation.
I preferred the old system, because though there are some questions in which is would be beneficial to wait 24 hour, there are many in which the right answer becomes obvious to the asker long before this. I think it is a pity that rules to control the irresponsible have to be imposed on all of us. Personally, I now always wait 24 hours t... I personally no longer see any importance in receiving or not receiving Kudoz pointZ (or even answering or not answering 'questions) but if it matters, I think there is a feature that allows people to 'track' individual questions. Surely tracking will include everything that happens, including closings?

This isn't what I meant. I don't care about points, I just want to know what the asker does with my suggestions (i.e. accept, reject or use them).
Tracking isn't a solution (each time you answer a question you would have to tick a box and not to forget to do it!).
I get notifications for any questions closed even if my answer isn't selected. Why shouldn't it be the same for questions that are automatically closed?
Today I came accross a question that I answered a few weeks ago: 1) The asker had left the community grade his question; 2) I don't know and will never know what answer he himself had chosen; and 3) I didn't know the question had been closed.
This is all very frustrating! You spend time to help someone (I know I am not obliged to do so, but it isn't the question here) and in the end, nothing...
I also have the feeling that people who use this "early grading" option are newcomers. I wonder if they really realize what it means to close a question early...

I made a question the other day. When I got the answer I liked, I tried to close the question and award the points to the answerer. Kudoz wouldn't let me, it said I had to wait at least 24 hours before closing the question. And if I still wanted to close the question I could leave the grading to the community. So, I left the grading to the community and suggested that the answer I chose should be the one included in the glossary. The system said that I would be informed when the question was fin... This is the type of thing I was referring to in my previous post - I find it very confusing that there are effectively two answers. It seems that it ultimately caused you a lot more work so I'm not surprised you won't be using it again.

I did understand the option, but after doing it I find that it was more troublesome and time consuming then waiting 24 hours to close the question and award the points.

Like Jack, I simply wait 24 hours now before grading. I nearly alsways did anyway, but there were occasions like just before a weekend or holiday, when I might do it after say 20 hours or so to get it done and tidied up.
But to get back to the question - if an asker does use this feature, I agree with Stéphanie - it is still interesting to know the outcome.
