and I don't like at all being contacted by Instant messenger (or Skype messenger) or phone for discussing details about a job. They can be used for the first contact, but then, all the terms must be written and confirmed at least in an e-mail.
It's too easy to say "I told you that I needed it at 12" or "we agreed on that rate" with absolutely nothing to stick to (and I have no bad experience related to this).
