Feb 3 '07  Iolanta Vlaykova Paneva: Trados Seminar location info
Holiday Inn on King Location http://www.hiok.com/location.htm
From the Airport...
The Holiday Inn On King is approximately a 30 - 40 minute cab ride from Toronto's Pearson International Airport. Alternatively, a regular Airport Express shuttle bus service leaves the airport every 20 minutes (during peak times) or 30 minutes (during off peak times) for a number of major downtown Toronto hotels, including the Holiday Inn On King. The shuttle bus service also picks up guests for return trips to the airport.
If you are travelling by car...
From the North…
Travel south on Highway 427 to the QEW (Queen Elizabeth Way). Take the QEW east, which turns into the Gardiner Expressway. Travel into Downtown and take the Spadina exit north. Travel north to Adelaide Street and turn right. Follow Adelaide 3 blocks east to Widmer Street and turn right. The Hotel entrance is located on the right side, just before King Street.
From the South (Niagara Falls)…
Take the QEW (Queen Elizabeth Way) east, which turns into the Gardiner Expressway. Travel into downtown and take the Spadina exit north. Travel north to Adelaide Street and turn right. Follow Adelaide 3 blocks east to Widmer Street and turn right. The Hotel entrance is located on the right side, just before King Street.
From the East (Kingston / Oshawa)…
Follow Highway 401 westbound to the Don Valley Parkway (DVP). Take the DVP south to the Gardiner Expressway into Downtown. Take the Spadina exit north and travel north to Adelaide Street. Turn right on Adelaide and follow 3 blocks east to Widmer Street. Turn right. The Hotel entrance is located on the right side, just before King Street.
From the West (Windsor / London)…
Follow the 401 eastbound to Highway 427.
Public Transportation
If you're taking public transportation, the hotel is merely four blocks west of the St. Andrew's subway station located at the corner of King Street and University Avenue. And it is just five short blocks northwest of the city's train station, Union Station.

Feb 3 '06  angielin: Projectors & all
If we are to get serious and do it like a business meeting, where someone does a demo on a software, wouldn't we need a projector? And whatever other equipments required?
Feb 2 '06  margari: At this point
Hi , at this point why not to meet more often?
For ex.: in March - friendly lunch ,
in April - CAT meeting? or something similar...
Feb 2 '06  PanPeter: let's merge both
Do we really wish to have a formal seminar instead of friendly (and loud) lunch atmosphere with lost of experience and interesting info. exchange? Can we arrage for someone to talk about CAT software in a separate lunchroom? Just suggestions.
Feb 2 '06  Pasquale Capo: North York Civic Centre??
Somebody told me today that if you a resident of North York you can reserve a room at this centre. I wonder if there is any truth in this and if it is worthwhile investigatining???
Feb 1 '06  Marta Argat: I'm biased too,
because I'd prefer to have a pretext to leave the Steel City for a few hours. :) I prefer Toronto.
Feb 1 '06  Sandra C.: a change?
How about Hamilton, or Guelph, or even Oakville (as it was mentioned in the beginning), for a change? I live 3 hours N/W of Toronto, so of course, I'm biased... :-)
Feb 1 '06  Saskia: Next powwow in GTA
Halton is just too inaccessible. Toronto is on the GO lines and has public transportation. There are many libraries and other public venues in Toronto.
Feb 1 '06  Ghina: Place for our next meeting
Hi Guys,
I have great news. What do you think about the Halton Multicultural Council as a place to meet next time? The suggestion is not coming from me, but from the Translation & Interpretation Coordinator. She's my boss (to start with) and was very excited to join our meeting, but couldn't make it. She'd love to meet with you guys, especially when it comes to arranging a professional lecture. I guess she can help us with that too. Thoughts.....
Feb 1 '06  angielin: Oh okay
Sure I was just entering a thought. It was a lot of fun to be so loud though. :) That means a lot of people were "voicing". I kind of find the kind of functions where people just mostly sit there wait for a few people to do all the talking kind of boring.
Jan 31 '06  Marta Argat: different purposes
You are right, Angie, we were so loud, but for the next time Eva is planning to invite somebody from a CAT company to give a presentation, so a library would be the most appropriate place for that. After the "official part" we can continue in an ice-cream parlor or even at water attractions. We also have to know the prices.
Jan 31 '06  Francesca Vincenzetti (X): Ok
Jan 31 '06  margari: ok
sounds good
Jan 31 '06  angielin: Next meeting venue suggestion
Hello Eva,

Would a library requires us to be quiet though? I noticed we were quite noisy last time, with all of us excitingly trying to converse with one another. I don't know if you would find my suggestion rather silly, but perhaps a venue like a partyroom at McDonald's or some restaurant like that might be better? The fastfood party rooms are usually favoured by kids' birthday parties, but they could be for us too. Or maybe the party room of some other restaurants for us "grown-ups". Hmm?
Jan 31 '06  angielin: ok
Jan 31 '06  Pasquale Capo: ok by me
Jan 31 '06  Edward LIU: OK
No problem.
Jan 31 '06  Sonja Zibin (X): OK
Jan 31 '06  Inese Poga-Smith: Thank you
I just now got to see the pictures, they're nice, thanks, Eva. I like that idea about meeting again in early spring. Sure, you can share the e-mail address, it's not a secret. It's great that the meeting was such a fun. Thank you one more time.
Jan 31 '06  Ghina: ok
Jan 31 '06  sporran: OK
Jan 31 '06  Iolanta Vlaykova Paneva: ok
Jan 31 '06  Marta Argat: OK

Jan 31 '06  Christine Lam: ok

Jan 31 '06  Mihaela Pirvulet: Ok!
Hi Eva
I have nothing against sharing my email address.
Thanks
Jan 31 '06  Eva Ballentine (X): I deleted the body of previous message
Sorry..
So...

I am very happy that all of us had a good time. For our next meeting (early Summer) I will try to arrange someone with a CAT tool to provide as with a live presentation or I will get someone from one of the CAT companies (Trados, etc.) to talk to us. I will also look into some "private place" (library?) where we can have a room for just us.

I am not in the position to release anyone's e-mail address without consent.

If you are OK with your e-mail address to be shared with others from the powwow, please reply with simply putting an "OK" in your Post Title.

My e-mail address is balATsympatico.ca (The AT stands for @. spam prevention)
