AGENDA
Everyone who will attend the powwow will receive 200 BrowniZ. It is important that you would give me your
Proz ID. You can find your Proz ID on your My Proz-> My Profile -> Settings page. In a yellow square it says "Settings for XY" and below "Your profile page. http://www.proz.com/pro/SET OF NUMBERS. The SET OF NUMBERS is your ID.
Verification
I will be able to verify you if you are not a verified member of Proz. If you are not a platinum member than probably you are not verified. Please bring a photo ID with you and your Proz ID number.
Any ideas you may have regarding this powwow, please let me know.
I am looking for someone who is using any CAT tools (Trados, voice recognition, etc.) to provide us with feedback. (Did it make your life easier? Did it increase the number of your clients? etc.)
LOCATION
Shopsy's Downtown
33 Yonge Street
Toronto, Ontario M5E 1G4
(at the Northeast corner of Yonge & Front across
from the Hummingbird Centre)
416-365-3333
Shopsy's at the front
PARKING
I recommend that you park in Shopsy's building's parking.
Parking is only $3 if you eat at Shopsy's.
The parking's entrance is off Scott Street, which runs parallel to Yonge.
Turn East from Yonge to Front and turn North on the first street. Shopsy's is accessible from inside the building.
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
from UNION STATION (GO STATION)
- if the weather is OK walk EAST on Front Street towards Yonge Street. Cross Yonge Street and Shopsy's is on the Northeast corner.
- if the weather is bad, follow the underground signs to BCE place (Hockey Hall of fame) and "emerge" at the Yonge Street entrance. Cross Yonge.
from KING STREET SUBWAY
Walk SOUTH on Yonge Street until the corner of Yonge and Front. Shopsy's is on the Northeast corner.
As I see everyone here thinks that's a great idea, but we need to think about organisation, right? Where and when exactly, and what wil be our programme.
Happy New Year to everyone! As I live very close to Toronto I'm gonna be there for sure. It's such a fun to meet other translators who work in this area.
I'd love to go, but I'm not going to this time... Boo-hoo! I so wanted to meet you all! Maybe one day it'll be closer to my home, which is a 3 hour drive from T.O. - or maybe I'll organise the Powwow myself! ;-) Have fun, you guys!!! I'll think of you!
I would love to attend, but may have to go to help my daughter with the birth of her second baby. Count me as tentative for now. Hey Marcus, would be great to meet you!!
Can I put myself in for a maybe? It sounds great - but 12:00 is a bit early as I have several things on that day....great to have one in Toronto, though

Oakville is hard to reach by public transit
Dec 24, 2005
I would suggest that we look into something that is conveniently located on the subway line. I am not sure where everyone is coming from but people from the East end will have a hard time to reach Oakville and getting back. Same goes for people from North Toronto or from North of Toronto. Oakville is a 30 minutes drive from Toronto. I am not sure how others feel about going to Oakville although.

I think before we decide on a location we should figure out if this is a lunch, dinner or an afternoon tee. I agree with PanPeter that we have to decide on this fast as 2006 is just around the corner.
I would also like to hear if Bojana did have something in her mind already as she is the one who suggested this get together.

Place & Time
Dec 25, 2005
No matter what place we will pick, it will be hard for somebody to reach by public transport. There is a convenient GO train to Oakville, and I promise to pick up anyone who so desires from the GO station. In my opinion, lunch time would be the best, ie. high noon.

Re: Place & Time

Bojana: you are a decision maker, and you will have to announce the place (is it Paradiso in Oakville) and time (best would be 12pm, we have to talk a little bit before having food)

I think it will be hard for all of us to go to Oakville. It will cost time and money. It's plenty of good restaurants in Toronto, why not in Toronto?

Kado, can you suggest a nice place in TO? Personally, I would also prefer Toronto to Oakville, but I guess it's up to Bojana to decide on the final place since she is the organizer...
