I don't know if there are people with (Atril) insider knowledge here, but I still ask my question. Do you think it's worth the while waiting for DVX4 or should I give up any hope and invest in another CAT tool?

To see a new Studio for every model year, makes me wonder.

Well, if Atril planned and almost released DVX4 (see announcement on their site), there must be something new they considered important enough for a new release.

I have not abandoned H.M.S. Atril. DVX3 still works perfectly for me, for the time being. However, it's always at the back of my mind that X3 would die on me unexpectedly perhaps after a Windows 10 or MS Office update. The general lack of communication or development news from Atril doesn't give any confidence. On the other hand, it's great when something just keeps working. I know you can still get support from them.

I guess investing in a backup CAT is a sensible thing to do. I have been playing with Wordfast and one of web-based tools. What is your Plan B? ▲ Collapse

...if "they" (whoever they today may be) supported their existing tool for the next 15 years at least, shouldn´t they (obviously) no longer plan to make further developments. It is still so easy to use and useful in my every day working routine compared to other CATs, although a few features are missing.

I believe "they" are French so a laissez faire approach to every thing is not unexpected.
CT is an interesting piece of software which I am yet to put a finger on it.

...and perhaps their current programming possibilities offer no more options to improve without the help or change to other programming toolboxes.
I remember, when agencies went mad in 2010: DV is a must-have etc., just because the word count was more favorable on their side at that time with DV. And it still would be today, compared to SDL Studio or memoQ.

...that it's quite puzzling that years ago DVX4 has been announced to be released soon, we were asked to subscribe for upgrade, and then silence, Atril sort of vanished, DVX4 was put on hold and apparently nobody knows why. So I'm wondering.
Maybe DVX3 (still) works well, my old VW from 1975 still runs, too, but...

Nevertheless, I subscribed as above and finally got the link.

It's calendars shows a lot of new messages this year (much more, than here).
by month
2020 48 96 100 130 86 176 30 48 66 111 142 18
It's a good idea - to backup of group messages. They contain a lot of useful info.
