Want to share a taxi?
Willing to offer a lift?
As many of you will be coming from out of town, I am setting up this forum so that you can get in touch with other attendees if you want to share taxis or, if you are a local, to give someone a lift (to/from the venue, powwows, gala dinner).
Ciao,

My friend Alejandra and I will be staying in Pigneto (about 1.5 km from Porta Maggiore).
We have never been to Rome, so if anyone would like to share a cab to the powwow and/or do some sightseeing with us in Ostia on the afternoon of the pre-conference powwow we'd be delighted. | | | Pre-conference Powwow + Gala Dinner | May 5, 2011 |
Hi, i'll arrive at the conference hotel Friday morning and would love to go sightseeing in Ostia Antica from around noon I guess, if anyone would like to join me before the powwow.
Also, i'll be going from the hotel to the gala dinner on Sat. if anyone wants to share a taxi.

Dear Daniela,
Please inform what is the approx. price for a taxi in Rome? I’ll stay in Eur Suite Hotel Rome 4*, not far from the Congressi Hotel. I want to take a taxi to the Gala Dinner venue. Thanks in advance. | |

Hello Anna
Taxis in Rome cost more or less like in any other European Capital.
Offical taxis all have a taxi metre displaying the cost of the fare as you progress
The distance between the Hotel dei Congressi and the Gala Dinner Venue is 6.5 km
This is the link to one of Rome's taxi service http://www.3570.it/eng/

Daniela,
Thank you for prompt and useful reply. | | | | Sharing taxis | May 18, 2011 |
I will be staying at the conference hotel from Thursday 19 until Monday 23 May.
As I will arrive at Fiumicino airport on Thursday 19 May, around 7.00 PM, I wanted to ask if someone wants to share a taxi to the hotel with my wife and me around that time.
The plans during Friday are not clear, apart from the powwow in the evening, of course! Not yet decided how to get there. Concerning the gala dinner on Saturday, I would gladly share a taxi from the hotel... See more I will be staying at the conference hotel from Thursday 19 until Monday 23 May.

Looking forward to it immensely!

Good idea, Inga!
It must be nearly two decades since I visited Ostia Antica (so it's even more ancient now). If people are interested, we could meet up at say 2 p.m. at the entrance? | | | Terhi Havila Italy Local time: 07:07 Italian to Finnish + ... Visit to Ostia Antica | May 18, 2011 |

Good idea! I have been to Ostia once, but it was ages ago, so it would be nice to visit it again before the powwow. I will be taking a bus to Rome that morning, so I should arrive to the hotel just in time for the 2.00 p.m. meeting. | | | There is no moderator assigned specifically to this forum.
