A windbreak or shelterbelt is a plantation usually made up of one or more rows of trees or shrubs planted in such a manner as to provide shelter from the wind and to protect soil from erosion.

A instalação de quebra-vento é tão importante não só para café orgânico más tambem para lavouras de café convencional que estão sujeitas a forte ação dos ventos.

Pelo que se tem de mais comum e recomendável para instalação de quebra-vento permanentes de espécies arbóreas são a Grevillea robusta e a Acacia mangium, e de espécies arbustivas são a Bananeira e o Guandu.
