Každý má chrám boží v sobě.

Czech to English Other Religion
It is from a letter. American host family want a Czech student to go to church almost every day. The mother would like to explain the family that though they are believers, they do not demonstrate it by everyday visits to church. It should not sound very strong.

Pokud opravdu chce, aby mladej do kostela nechodi, mela by vyslovne napsat, ze prebira veskerou zodpovednost za to, ze mladej zustane doma sam a podpis pod timto prevzetim zodpovednosti by mel byt notarizovan, aby to bylo oficialni. To by mohlo pomoci.

Reknete maticce ze pokud chodi do kostela cela rodina, budou mit problem nechat mladyho doma samotnyho bez dozoru, protoze by meli strach, ze se mu neco stane. Holt to bude muset mladej a potazmo i maticka rozdejchat anebo zmenit hostitelskou rodinu.

Everybody has his (or her) house of God inside, in his (or her) heart and mind.

If the expressiion has to be strong I thing the comparison with heart could be good as far as belief is concerned.
As regards "house of God", there are many hints.

Lord's minster in every heart.

Many options here though in my mind not very well translatable. To truly express what's meant you can use The Gospel of Thomas along these lines:


Jesus Said:
I am the Light
Which illumines all men.
I am the All.
The All came forth from me
and the All ended up in me.
Split some wood, I am there.
Lift a stone,
you will find me there.

Meaning basically you don't need a church (the building) to praise God.

neutral Elizabeth Spacilova : Nice idea ... but the Americans are apparently fundamentalists. As G of St T is not in the Bible, they wouldn't necessarily accept it or, if they are very sensitive, could even get offended. // Agree - the "right" translation is "hledejte novou rodinu".

Yes - "The temple of God is within" sounds better.
