This seems to be a reference to an idiom of sorts that is not altogether apparent. Without any prejudice to Angela whatsoever, I don't think it's about that example she gave. By the logic of it, it probably means something like "leave your attitude behind", i.e. check here is used as in check your guns at the door.

Is it possible that the participants have been given something ("stripes"), and they need to check them before they enter the conference room? Maybe it is something to help them keep track of the sessions they have attended.
I agree with Angela that this is just a set of directions therefore I don't think they would use any idioms in this passage.

Я не очень понимаю, о чем у вас текст, но stripes - это армейские знаки различия, и в обычной речи to check stripes означает, что вы проверяете хороший человек (стоящий ли вашего знакомства) или нет (не стоит знакомства). Но в ваш текст это как-то не ложится. Подумаю еще.
