Re 24 hrs: Not so much offended as disappointed. Many enjoy KudoZ as an intellectual exercise, but also the "agree" feature is a way to collect Browniz. It's just a courtesy to keep it open, even if you have already decided on the answer.

Context Thank you, woodstock, I'll provide more context as you ask. Here is the whole sentence:
"Sein Engagement in Wien brachte ihm einen Achtungserfolg ein, 1927 war er kurzzeitig als Akademieprofessor im Gespräch." The subject of this text is an artist. That's really all the context there is.

You're pretty new, so you probably don't know that questions should ideally be kept open for 24 hours, so that other colleagues in other parts of the globe can have a crack at it. It also often turns out that the first answer is not always the best one.

Yes I know that, but often times a suggested question is exactly what I need - I know that for sure from the context, so I feel like I may as well close it right away so I don't have to do it later. I thought that would spare other people their time. But if you are suggesting that other people may find it in some way offensive, I'll be happy to wait in the future.
