German term (edited): Kndigungsschutzklage

petition for protection against dismissal

This is not an action in a court, but a petition filed with an administrative body.
Should you use the adjective "wrongful" or "unlawful" or "improper"?
Actually it is likely that the petitioner will claim that the dismissal is wrongful, unlawful, or improper, but the German does not include the adjective even if it may imply it, so I would leave it out.

It would be perfectly correct to substitute \"temination\" for \"dismissal.\"
Peer comment(s):

neutral Lydia Molea : In Germany the Kündigungsschutzklage is submitted to the labor court, so it is an action in a court

Thank you, Lydia. In the US an action may be filed in court after a wrongful dismissal has occurred.

in the US, you'd say

...to take legal action before the labor relations court, challenging the notice of dismissal

Of course, it could also be a layoff notice (lack of work). Dismissal is usually for cause, like neglect of duty, etc
