Can this be translated as 'stakeholder'?

Discussion

Konstantin Kisin Oct 6, 2004:
Natalie, stakeholders doesn't always mean the holder of a financial stake, it can mean an interested party, but its just a really bad way of saying it
Natalie Oct 6, 2004:
Stakeholders have nothing to do with this context; zainteresovannykh does NOT mean any interests here (in the financial sense), it means "the concerned/involved parties", that's all
Konstantin Kisin Oct 6, 2004:
well you could use it i guess, and to my (self-proclaimed) native ear it sounds kind of awkward...having thought about it again, i wouldn't say its NOT stakeholder, but i'd avoid using it if you possibly can
Non-ProZ.com Oct 6, 2004:
zainteresovannye litsa = stakeholders This is from my client's glossary.
Why are you sure it's not stakeholder Konstantin?
Konstantin Kisin Oct 6, 2004:
NOT stakeholders, for sure
Non-ProZ.com Oct 6, 2004:
stakeholders Stakeholders ARE interested parties. It is standard English administrative jargon. Can any native English speakers advise?
Non-ProZ.com Oct 6, 2004:
zainteresovannyi Sorry, and thanks!
Natalie Oct 6, 2004:
Please repost the term and I will edit the question. Thanks
Konstantin Kisin Oct 6, 2004:
please repost the actual term :)

Selected

stakeholder agencies, ministries, businesses, organizations...

At least in the US "stakeholders" is a pretty standard contemporary social activism / advocacy politics buzzword. It connotes people from different governemntal, business and nonprofit entities working togeth er on common problems across organizational or jurisdictional boundaries.

To Natalie, "stakeholders" seems appropraite here but DOES NOT refer to financial interests but to work on a common problem or having a common mandate to address something whether in terms of medical, law enforcement, public health, addiction prevention or other interventions

Give me a second and I will scare up some topical texts on Google.

As promised, some examples with a heavy bias to local sites in my area

A stakeholders group that will provide a balanced representation of the Northgate community\'s diverse interests is currently being assembled by the Seattle Department of Planning and Development. This group will advise the City on the following key decisions over the coming year:

* planning for large lot developments (particularly early input on conceptual site planning), including but not limited to the Northgate Mall, the South Lot, and King County\'s transit-oriented development project
* an Urban Center Plan for open space and pedestrian connections including bicycle and pedestrian circulation and streetscape improvements
* the Coordinated Transportation Investment Plan
* implementation of the 5th Ave NE Streetscape Design

The stakeholders group was called for in legislation passed by the City Council on December 8, 2003 (Council Resolution 30642), with the Mayor\'s concurrence. The Council Resolution identifies the interests that will hold seats on the stakeholders group (see list of all 22 stakeholder seats). It also specifies that organizations holding seats 1-12 will designate their representatives. DPD is seeking nominations for the remaining 10 seats (13-22).

Communicating complexities of projects

Early stakeholder involvement and communications will support clear community understanding of project goals, issues, opportunities and constraints. Active community involvement from start-up to completion will ensure timely and efficient decision-making.

Engaging broad and diverse community participation

Planning for each project provides an excellent opportunity to bring new voices and interests to the table. Working with Parks and Recreation staff and community leaders, project staff should reach out and solicit the involvement of a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including those who do not traditionally work with the department.

The plan alternatives are the result of monthly site planning meetings of the Jefferson Park Project Advisory Team (PAT) which was put together by the Seattle Department of Parks and
Recreation. The PAT includes representatives from more than 20 key Jefferson Park stakeholder groups, including: Beacon Hill Chamber of Commerce; Friends of Seattle’s Olmsted Parks; Jefferson Community Center Advisory Council; Jefferson Park Alliance; Jefferson Park Lawn Bowling Club; Jefferson Park Women’s Golf Club; North Beacon Hill Council; Samoan Cricket League; Seattle Chinese Athletic Association; Seattle Department of Neighborhoods; Seattle Design Commission; Seattle Golf; Seattle Parks Department; Seattle Public Utilities; and the Veteran’s Administration Hospital. The Parks Department also hired a landscape architecture firm, The Portico Group, to assist the PAT in the development of the physical improvement plan.

And now from the county

In response to a November 2003 Metropolitan King County Council budget proviso, the King County Department of Transportation is convening a working group of stakeholders to study and make recommendations for the long-term use or disposition of King County Metro Transit properties on North Lake Union in the South Wallingford neighborhood of Seattle. The working group process will include discussion of transportation infrastructure and land uses that link North Lake Union with other subareas.

The facilitated working group discussions during this process will advise Metro Transit during the completion of a master plan for the use or disposition of Metro Transit properties in the North Lake Union area. Issues and elements that will be included as part of the working group discussions are:...

concerned

Literally, "interested parties" (not stakeholders!)

agree Konstantin Kisin : with interested parties
