SEEK AND YOU SHALL FIND (cntd.)

...Well, they all got back in the carriages, and they all went back to the king. And the king says, "Now, what manner of beast is this elephant?"

And the first wise man bowed low and said, "Your Majesty, this elephant is very like unto the trunk of a small tree."

"You're completely wrong!" said the next one. "I felt it myself, it's like the side of a building."

"Oh you're both wrong!" says the third. "It's like a... a big - a big leaf of a large plant!"

The fourth says, "No no no! You're all wrong! It's like a smooth spear."

"No no no!" says the next, "It's like a big snake."

And the last one says, "Your majesty, you know I'm right. It's like a rope hanging down from heaven. You pull on it, and the heavens open up with waste."

SEEK AND YOU SHALL FIND

There was another king, in another country, in the olden days. He was sitting in his palace one day, and a messenger came:

"Your Majesty! Your Majesty! A sea captain has landed on your coast, and in the hold of his vessel is a strange animal called an elephant!"

Well, the king was busy enjoying himself. He said to his wise men, he said, "I wish you'd go down and bring me back a report."

So the wise men got in the carriages and they were all taken down to the coast, and they went on board the ship. But you know, they'd all been reading books so long they were blind as bats.

And the first wise man, he felt the leg of the elephant. And he says, "Hm."

And the next one feels the side of the elephant. "Hmm," says he.

The next one felt the ear of the elephant. "Hmmm," says he.

The next one felt the tusk of the elephant, and the next one felt the trunk, and the last one pulled on the tail....

Igor, my friend "...not right for English"? We doing Swahili!? (HaHa!). You're too young to remember the American, like me who uses (probably poor) English, "Typhoid Mary" ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Mallon), a notorious carrier of that disease. I've translated Russian medical journals for 66 years and never had a problem among American medical counterparts with Носительство = Carriage. But it's your translation, not mine. And Oleg Lozinskiy, my dear loquacious, intelligent, philosophical friend whose words far exceed the capabilities of my axon-dendrite synapses to transmit them, it's always a pleasure to see/read your comments.
Oleg Lozinskiy Oct 1, 2016:
Nowadays Internet (initially ARPANET) and search engines (Google/Yandex - if to speak about EN<->RU translation - but a more or less complete list thereof may be found in Wikipedia --> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_search_engines) provide(s) answers to very many questions. In respect to a particular translation job/task/assignment/purchase order the challenge to choose/select/elect the correct/adequate/relevant/appropriate/due/needed/required/necessary/feasible, etc. WORD/WORDBLOCK/SENTENCE/PHRASE/ENTIRE PARAGRAPH (if quoted directly or indirectly) apparently vests in the TRANSLATOR who may be overruled by the EDITOR/PROOFER, thereafter by the LQA OFFICER/PROJECT MANAGER/END-CLIENT, and finally --> by the END-USER of the translated text, i.e. the TARGET AUDIENCE and/or final READER. The related QUESTIONS are whether to translate the MEANING or AD VERBATIM?, in NATIVE LANGUAGE or AS DEEMS FIT?, etc., etc.

But there's always a BUT! Whom does a PROFESSIONAL translator (i.e. a translator earning one's living) serve? IMHO, this question has no valid answer if asked to the nowadays Internet and the search engines thereof.

P.S. Because this is a purely PHILOSOPHIC(AL) QUEST...

No, the title is not erroneous. It is about various types of "носительство" as a phenomena. However, at first it seemed strange to me too.
Jack slep Oct 1, 2016:
Maybe, just maybe it's Об утверждении носительства and not Перечня носительства

Concerning your note "I think this is a grammatical error. It is widely known or at least expected that Ukrainian authors enjoy butchering the Russian language.
Not in this case.

Носительство возбудителей заразных болезней - одна из форм инфекционного (инвазионного) процесса, при которой паразитирование возбудителей заразных болезней в организме человека и животного протекает без клинических проявлений и сопровождается выделением возбудителя в окружающую среду.

(list of) carriers of pathogens of [these] diseases

I think this is a grammatical error. It is widely known or at least expected that Ukrainian authors enjoy butchering the Russian language. The typical translator encounters many such instances in his/her career.
"carriage" makes little or no sense in the context. What is a "list of carriage"? I don't even know if the word "carriage" is idiomatic in this context.
Therefore I have elected "carriers" (носителей).
Peer comment(s):

agree Sofia Gutkin : I completely agree. It surely means a list of pathogen CARRIERS, such as rats, fleas, etc.

Чтобы вставить в название документа вместе со словом "этих" --> ...and Carriage of Infectious Agents Thereof.

Вообще-то, 'перечень... носительства'??? Если предположить, что в виду имелся 'перечень... болезней... и... НОСИТЕЛЕЙ...', то один из возможных вариантов перевода --> ...and Carriers Thereof.

Но я бы обязательно проконсультировался с заказчиком/клиентом.
