Russian to English Science Physics education kit
Состав прибора:
"вертикальный металлический стенд, на котором закреплена неподвижная ось вращения тела и подвижный магнитный держатель для фиксации".

У меня пока есть
Vertical metal stand with fixed axis of object rotation and movable magnetic holder for holding an object at various heights.

Это описание прибора для демонстрации учащимся экспериментов по сохранению и превращению энергии.

stationary rotary shaft and adjustable magnetic holder

This is a case where a picture would be worth a lot of words. It's hard to know how to describe this thing without being able to see it. I do have the feeling that some of the Russian words are probably redundant in English. If a shaft rotates, whatever is attached to it (the "тело"?) would turn with it. Also, I'm thinking that the "держатель" is probably there to hold something (the "тело" again?)in position relative to the shaft, so "фиксация" is probably redundant.

My mental picture could be all wrong, though . . .

Oops, I forgot part of the phrase: "vertical metal stand to which is attached a stationary rotary shaft and an adjustable magnetic holder."

You're right, martsina -- it should be "are" instead of "is."

Of course, it could also be: "vertical metal stand to which a stationary rotary shaft and an adjustable magnetic holder are attached."
Note from asker:
James, thank you so very much. Even though you can't see the picture you grasped the idea correctly. Now the sentence is much better. Isn't it "are attached", since there are two things attached, a stationary shaft and an adjustable holder?
