Russian to English Science Science (general) scientific writing

Discussion

Nik-On/Off (asker) May 22, 2011:
Victoria Lubashenko May 22, 2011:
rikka May 22, 2011:

Gekkos have claws with adhesive properties that enable them to crawl along the ceiling.

agree Alexey Larin : my first thought on this question was the same as TechLawDC's but I'd rather go with rewriting ... I like it more the way it sounds

are constructed in such a way that

(There is no extreme reason to depart from literality here because the author later somewhat explains what he means by "constructed".)
"evolved" is ingenious but introduces a new thought which is not the author's. The author may be a Lysenkoist to whom "evolved" may not have the customary meaning.
"morphologically" is too specific, because we know that more than mere morphology is involved; namely, moisture etc.
Peer comment(s):

agree Rachel Douglas : Or maybe "formed in such a way."

Rephrasing is good but, if Nik wants or needs to stick with that phrase, this is what I would use. So it looks something like:
