Please note: tarta is usually cake...there is whiskey cake and whiskey pie..
You really need to know how the thing is made to tell though..The words in this case are not enough, as it is not an originally Spanish dessert.

Tarta al whisky seems to be a frozen dessert from the recipes I've found, the Scottish whisky gâteaux are chilled, though the version from Louisiana in the 3rd link says it can be frozen

Tarta (tartaleta para las pequeñas), pie e incluso "pay" se utiliza en México para denominar lo mismo: variantes de pies. Al igual que frutas y verduras, las recetas varían de nombre según los lugares. En ciertos países latinoamericanos (Colombia, por ejemplo) cake es torta (con "o" no con "a"). En Argentina se le llama tarta pascualina a esa delicia de su cocina que es una suerte de mil hojas con espinacas. Aquí me refiero al pie irlandés de whiskey (de ahí la grafía). El británico lo conozco como pudín y lo siento primo hermano del fruit cake (¿cake? pues, sí). Por otro lado, en México los gateaux suelen conservar ese nombre pues se trata de un postre helado más que horneado (aunque algunos dependen de una combinación de ambos). Por tanto, el contexto -o la receta- determinarán de cuál estamos hablando.
