Hi, I'm translating an Interpol report written in Mexico about a guy caught smuggling drugs. One of the sentences is:

DOCE PAQUETES CON PALETAS DE 25 GRAMOS CADA UNO QUE DICEN CONTENER CANNABIS

I'm struggling with "paletas". I don't think it's "wraps", but could it be "blocks"?

Any help gratefully received!

John, thanks for agreeing. As regards using 'blocks', I don't think you can change a word because it sounds better. I imagine that in this case, the drug was hidden inside Chupa Chup-style lollipops.
agree Sandro Tomasi : If 25 grams of cannabis can be stuffed into a lollipop, this may be the right answer. A picture of the "paleta" would dispell any doubts. // Just realized, the key is "cada uno" in ref. to paquetes, not paletas. So, yes, lollipop, aka jolly lolly.

If the asker had had a picture then he wouldn't have had to ask the question! I don't know much about hiding cannabis but if you look on the Internet, drugs are often hidden inside Chupa Chup-style lollipops. Thank you for your opinion, Sandro :-)

As per asker's suggestion. Although "paleta" may mean a lollipop elsewhere, in this particular case I think "blocks" is the best term for compressed marijuana or hashish (in Mx I assume it's the former).

If it's block hashish (not weed), then "slabs" is another option:
