Law (general)
Hi, I'm translating an Interpol report written in Mexico about a guy caught smuggling drugs. One of the sentences is:
DOCE PAQUETES CON PALETAS DE 25 GRAMOS CADA UNO QUE DICEN CONTENER CANNABIS
I'm struggling with "paletas". I don't think it's "wraps", but could it be "blocks"?
Any help gratefully received!

At the moment I really don't know whether or not it's right. I'll carry on researching.

Hay paletas de dulce (carmelo macizo) -- lollipop, y también hay paletas de hielo (helado).
En mi país se usan indistintamente, y si es necesario especificar, se dice: "quiero una paleta de dulce/hielo" [The poster was writing from Mexico]

Would this not simply be the wrapping around the cannabis? For example: http://www.uline.com/Cls_03/Stretch-Wrap

blocks
As per asker's suggestion. Although "paleta" may mean a lollipop elsewhere, in this particular case I think "blocks" is the best term for compressed marijuana or hashish (in Mx I assume it's the former).

So, we get something like this:
"TWELVE PACKAGES OF 25-GRAM BLOCKS, SAID TO CONTAIN CANNABIS"

--------------------------------------------------
If it's block hashish (not weed), then "slabs" is another option:
"The Body Shop's use of thick paper surrounding the block of hemp soap closely resembles the cloth in which a slab of cannabis is covered. "

Note added at 1 day3 hrs (2016-08-23 17:20:25 GMT)

A Google search for "slab of cannabis" gets approximately 20,000 hits. A similar search for "block..." gets roughly 109,000.

A 25 g block/slab of cannabis is roughly equivalent to an ounce (28-30 g).
--------------------------------------------------
Note added at 1 day3 hrs (2016-08-23 17:22:31 GMT)
--------------------------------------------------
In the context of the query, I imagine that the blocks or slabs of the substance were disguised in lollipop packets or wrappers.

: While I give my agree to "lolipops" it seems to me this is a better option.
