Trados 2007 Toolbar disappears in WORD 2007 Thread poster: roak
| roak United States Member German to English
Hello,
Forgive me if this has been discussed earlier. I have Word 2007 and Trados 2007 Freelance Suite installed on my system but I see that the Trados toolbar disappears. The Multiterm bar however is seen under Add-Ins. Whats to be done to recover the bar? In case the issue has been discussed earlier, can someone give me the link to the posting?
Note that the version of the Workbench on my system is 8 and the build is 835.
Many Thanks in advance for your help.

I went to WORD options > Add Ins and found that TRADOS8.dotm has been disabled. It was only a question of enabling that file, which I did and all was well once again. Hopefully this continues working normally now.
Thanks

Remove that one from Word start menu and copy the Trados8.dotm there.
Please use the search function on this forum to find out more details.
Not later than last week I have been describing the paths, so I do not really want to repeat myself. | | | Repairing Word settings corrupt by Trados... | Sep 22, 2010 |

Since the incorrect Word view settings have been written to the registry, you have to edit a particular registry entry as follows to correct the problem:
As I understand your problem, the Word environment was corrupted by Trados.
So:
- close Word
- open the registry editor (make attention...)
- open the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\x.0\Word\Data where "x.0" corresponds to your MS Word version.
- delete the Data key.
- close the registry editor.
- relaunch Word.
It should reinitialize Word.
If you experience further problems, follow the standard template related tips.
Cheers

The Workbench footnote handling is so clumsy and error-prone that after wasting a lot of time using Workbench on a long assignment full of footnotes, I've adopted the policy of using TagEditor or a Studio version of Trados to handle assignments of this kind.
Happy New Year. I hope this helps.
With kind regards,

look at "Manage:" at the bottom-left of the dialogue - you need to select 'Templates' in the drop-down list and hit GO button. In the coming up dialogue check/tick TRADOS8.dotm template and hit OK.
In my case, Word resisted by saying Trados caused a serious trouble last time, but I forced it anyway. | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Trados 2007 Toolbar disappears in WORD 2007 Anycount & Translation Office 3000 | Translation Office 3000
