I am a UK-based native Japanese translator with language-related degrees from Oxford University (BA and DPhil in Oriental Studies in ancient Indian languages, including Sanskrit and Pali). I received many years of thorough training in philology and translation prior to launching myself as a freelance translator. I currently work full-time as a freelance translator (English <--> Japanese) with several years of experience under my belt. My past projects include but are not limited to business, finance, marketing, pharmaceutical, medical, human resources, market research, hardware/software and IT. I also deal with websites, localisation and transcription. As a former editor in book publishing, I am also well qualified for proofreading jobs.
Another service I offer is voiceover. I am a native Japanese speaker from Saitama, just north of Tokyo, and my accent is identical to standard Japanese (hyojungo) spoken in national broadcasting media. I had ten years of acting experience as a child. I am articulate and can produce a variety of voices ranging from corporate materials to friendly announcements. My past projects in voiceover include tourism, corporate video, e-learning and training materials. I would be happy to provide audio samples upon request. I can produce high-quality audio files (e.g. 24 bit audio at sample rates of 44.1 kHz).
The main CAT tools I use are memoQ Adriatic, SDL TRADOS Studio 2017 and Wordfast Pro 4. I also use Adobe Creative Cloud (Acrobat, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) for jobs involving those file formats.
I can offer you highly competitive rates while delivering accurate and readable translations. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. My CV is available to download.
