If you consider walking a physical exercise (I do), I walk every day: at least 20 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes in the evening (thanks to my dog!). My doctor says that it’s good for my heart and knees. Physical exercise in a gym was never my cup of tea, even in my younger days… | | | Tom in London United Kingdom Local time: 02:08 Member (2008) Italian to English
Every evening and sometimes during the day at weekends I go for a brisk walk, or a bike ride, for one hour. I've been doing this since 17March and I'm gradually getting my weight down to my recommended BMI. This is combined with a strict ( but enjoyable, not masochistic) diet control regime of my own invention.
This is partly because a friend of mine who was very overweight had to have his knee replaced recently. I don't want to have to do that. But there are other reasons too. ... And yes, I know that BMI has its critics. You don't need to remind me.

I do a daily mile-long walk and 45 minutes of exercises with machines. I try to do it all in the morning, because once the day is started, it's difficult to work everything in. Sometimes I walk in the evening when it's cooler.

Well done Tom; I just wish I was just as disciplined but either it's too cold in winter or far too hot at any time of day in summer. | | | I don’t like to brag but... | Aug 23, 2020 |

I joined a walking club about ten years ago, as I felt I needed exercise, but never found the time. We are a small group that goes out together once a week, and sometimes we organise larger events. Most of us do not get out walking on those occasions! Apart from the two who mark out the routes and collect the markers in again, the rest of us are busy setting up the refreshment point, making coffee and sandwiches, selling tickets and refreshments, and then clearing up again... so we get plenty of fresh air and exercise. It will be different when we are finally allowed to do it again, observing Covid-19 precautions, but outdoors with lots of space for distancing, it should be possible.
Since May 14 this year I have been doing physiotherapy exercises to rehabilitate a dislocated shoulder, and working on getting back in form with the walking club. It is a slow business, but I am definitely making progress! Doing exercises three or four times a day eases the stiffness, or you would never, ever see me exercising voluntarily! ▲ Collapse

I've been doing intense physical exercises since my childhood. Now, at 68, things have slowed down a little but I still ride my bike 30-40 miles/day(approx.2 hrs) and 50-80 miles in the weekend, swim 2-3 miles two days a week and do my daily 3 miles walk with my wife. As a result, my BP never got higher than 120/60 (My resting pulse is around 52 and regular BP 100/58.)
Stay healthy,

Walking and swimming are the exceptions but where and how to walk in Houston summer?!?!? Feels like +45C and 90% humidity 24/7... I don't like "senseless" walking either, I must have either a beautiful beach, or a forest for mushroom hunting, or St. Pete, or any other historical/picturesque/big city scenery, and then I'll walk miles and miles and miles at a time.
To drive a few miles only to pant in a sweaty gym and soak in a petri dish aka public pool is not my cup of tea.

Right now I'm back to work and enjoy daily walks on the Atlantic beach after hours. Strong rip currents and fairly high surf make swimming a rare strike of luck; it's more like splashing, jumping, diving under the waves and trying to land back on both feet but it's still fun:-). After 5 - 5:30 pm big crowds are gone, the beach is endless and there is plenty of room to be within 20-40 feet from others, the sun is no longer brutal, no shade needed. What's not fun is watching 2 hurricanes creeping closer and closer to home while I'm away. That's what could give you plenty of exercise... I know, I lived thru 3 of them. ▲ Collapse | | | Bangyou Xiang China Local time: 10:08 Member (2019) English to Chinese + ... I run at least 3 times a week | Aug 24, 2020 |
I've been a runner for 11 years. Since 2013, I've participated in dozens of marathons, triathlons and ultra rail races. Now I usually run 3 times a week, 150-180KM per month. I went to gym twice a week for three hours each (treadmill, biking and rowing) at least before Covid-19 lockdown.
During lockdown, as gyms were closed, I picked up Tai Chi and practice at home rear garden and park near home. Plus walking in the park at day break for one hour (7000 steps) at least.

Since about 3 years, I get down to the gym for 1 hour in the morning and if the weather is good I get my 30 km bike tour done in the evening (ergometer in the cold months). Have lost just over 20 kgs! Would have been more if I did not also enjoy life at the same time. | | | Kay Denney France Local time: 03:08 French to English
I take my dog for a walk morning and evening. I also cycle everywhere for shopping and other errands or appointments. Before Covid I also went swimming several times a week, now it's just impossible to book a session. I also did a good 40 min of yoga every, I had to stop because of tendonitis in my knee. It's gradually healing and I hope to work back up to my full routine again pretty soon. | | | Addicted to it! | Aug 24, 2020 |
Do jogging and exercise on a daily basis. I go out before dawn on a lovely route along a wadi, reach a high point in a hilltop neighborhood a little after sunrise, enjoy the beautiful views of the surrounding hills and the city in the crisp morning sunlight, then head back to the center of town through a little wooded patch below.

Never felt better in my life.
