The boss is a bit a of a bitch, though: "Dilly-dallying on Proz again, are we?" "Going out for a walk now, are we?", "Giving me the evil eye, are we?", to which I always reply: "Just put a sock in it, will ya?"

In my case I never really envisioned to be a manager of anyone or an entrepreneur, but work kept rolling in from a wide customer base and one thing led to another. I have three permanent employees who do excellent work, and the four of us translate everything in-house.

20 years to learn my lesson! Jun 13, 2021

I worked in-house for 20 years. In Brazil, people are sort of prejudiced against working at home. They used not to consider it real work. Everyone used to be influenced to finish college and send CVs to large companies to get a "good job" (if that exists). I went on in that trend, unfortunately. It took me 20 years to kick in-house jobs off my life and to realize how working as a freelancer is 100 times better in every possible aspect you can imagine, starting with your income.
