Report from  EllyLiu
Hello everybody,

Happy to get some time for reporting the Beijing Powwow.
1. Most of the participants (25, I'm sorry Haijun Huang. If there anybody else missed in the attendance lists except the 3 ladies who haven't Proz IDs ;-) are first time Powwow participants.
2. Thanks to Jeffrey Chen who offered us an office which is easy for me to find, and the great pizzas and fruits.
3. Thanks to all that can manage to present. And all your sharing of experience and industry information.
4. It's a pity that some of us missed session 2, the free networking session.
5. Suggestions to the next powwow: we need more time for a gathering of over 20 participants. We'd better start in the morning or afternoon at least, so that we have enough time for speaking and free networking. Actually, 4-6 hours recommended.
6. Anyone who wishes to organize next powwow, please let us know at the Forum, at the powwow page, or by email in the contact sheet which comes to your email address soon.

Best wishes,

Elaine

Oct 7 '07  EllyLiu: Thanks for the details, lbone
And thank you for the suggestions :)
Oct 5 '07  lbone: Verifying ID the easier way
Dear colleagues,

Thanks Elaine for successfully organizing Beijing Powwow. The topic of ID verification was mentioned in her recent letter. I browsed through the profiles of those on the name list and found most are not ID verified.

There is a specific ProZ FAQ topic on ID verification:

http://www.proz.com/faq/qa#qa_vid_how

Besides meeting a VIP in person, there are other ways to verify your ID. You do not have to wait for the next powwow - you can verify your ID anytime, anywhere:

1) Pay US $5 with a credit card bearing your name (the same as that in your profile).
2) Buy Platinum membership with a credit card OR Paypal, and submit a support ticket for ID verification if the name on the credit card/Paypal is the same as that in your profile.

I verified my ID by Paypal after renewing my membership this year. If you are not ready to go Platinum, you can pay US $5 with your credit card to verify your ID.

BTW, going Platinum is not a bad choice if you are serious on international business starting from ProZ. I guess most outsourcers may be more interested in working with those who clearly showed their serious intention in this market/community.
Oct 2 '07  lbone: Huang Haijun is not listed
He was there with traiston, and left with traiston and me.
