- การว่างงานชั่วคราว(frictional unemployment) หมายถึง การที่บุคคลไม่มีงานทำเพียงในช่วงระยะเวลาสั้นๆ อาจเกิดขึ้นเนื่องจากขาดข่าวสารข้อมูลเกี่ยวกับงาน อยู่ระหว่างการแสวงหางานที่ดีที่สุดสำหรับตนเอง อยู่ระหว่างการโยกย้ายไปทำงานในแหล่งใหม่ หรืออยู่ระหว่างการนัดหยุดงานเพื่อเรียกร้องค่าจ้างแรงงานเพิ่มขึ้น ฯลฯ การว่างงานชั่วคราวเป็นปัญหาการว่างงานที่ไม่รุนแรงมากนักสามารถบรรเทาลงได้โดยการปรับปรุงเกี่ยวกับเรื่องของข่าวสารเกี่ยวกับงาน หรือการจัดงานนัดพบแรงงาน
