It depends on the situation, but generally I follow my father’s advice: I take a few, slow deep breaths and count to 10. | | | Immediately do nothing | Aug 28 |

I do yoga and breathing and mindful meditation, I exercise, I have a healthy diet... all general things to keep stress to a minimum.
When a specific thing stresses me out I go out into the garden and do a spot of weeding. Connecting with nature always helps. Oh and I drink a glass of water, because water always helps (not just for stress).

Sometimes I create a dramatic scene, other times I resolve things structurally. It depends on the situation. Other people tend to say I am calm in stressful situations, but all of them saw me in just some type of stressful situations, not all.
I agree with the water thing Kay mentioned. Either have a glass of water, soak yourself in a bath tub, take a shower or go for a swim. | | | Liena Vijupe Latvia Local time: 20:38 Member (2014) French to Latvian + ...
It depends of the cause and nature of the stress. There have been situations where I've coped with it working a lot, but usually nature, music, reading and physical activity helps.
Avoiding (some) people should also be an option, especially when they are the source of stress.

In stressful situations, I usually pray to God in the name of Jesus Christ and He always helps me get through them, no matter how difficult they are.

Take a deep breath, and work out what to do | Aug 28 |
My mother used to drive me mad whe I was young - she seemed to think a cup of tea would solve anything!
She was partly right: thinking the problem through over a cup of tea does help, but simply using it to distract yourself is utterly frustrating. Looking away for ten minutes may give you time to see things in proportion ... unless you simply need to act fast!
Drawing a deep breath and saying a prayer for guidance is another good tactic.

Can you do anything about it? Where do you begin? Where can you get help, or how are you going to cope? For me it is important to face the problem, and then it is less stressful.
If it is a tight deadline, then I find coffee and getting to work is the only solution. Flapping about feeling sorry for myself only makes things worse! ▲ Collapse | | | A blend of many of those. | Aug 28 |
My baseline stress is already set to high, so I've had a lot of practice in a range of strategies: exercise (preferably swimming, when my mind seems able to alchemize a solution from the subconscious, but usually walking just because convenience dictates), talking to my partner, writing it down, drawing (where again the subconscious takes on power), preparing a meal for my family, being with animals (pets or otherwise), and simply sitting outside on a sunny day, breathing deeply and taking permi...
