For the last six months or so I have been receiving emailed job announcements that are completely irrelevant. Some of them involve skills that I do not list and do not have, e.g. sending in labeled photographs, submitting sound clips, and rating search engine results. Others require skills in languages such as Khmer, Wolof, or Uighur, in other words, languages that I have never seen or heard.

(emphasis mine)
Thanks, Naiara.
Thing is, though, that with the increasing number of bugs and glitches happening on ProZ, my confidence in the site is waning as rapidly as my discomfort is growing.
As a reminder, and as reported to Support by me and other colleagues, we've been seeing the same Featured Translator for the best part of ONE WEEK (first noticed on 30 November). Since 29 November (earlier date showing in the list of Forum threads I am following), the 'Recent translation forum posts' page, fifteen threads out of thirty-three are showing zero views despite them having received multiple replies.
Considering the time it is taking you to fix the issues we keep experiencing, I wonder what would happen in case of, say, a breach of data? How can we be sure our personal and sensitive data are safe? | |

Dear Barbara,
Thanks for your response.
Breach of the data is considered by the whole ProZ.com Team as a severe issue and therefore, in case such issue happens, it is addressed as the issue of the first priority: checked and fixed fast.
You may understand that as it is a site with a huge number of areas and features, we register and organize the reported issues according to their priority and considering the number of users being affected by them.

Issues you have mentioned are already in development factory and will be fixed as soon as possible. They do not prevent members from using key services.
We really appreciate your patience.

Today, by chance, I've already received two questions from KudoZ, but everything that happens there I'm not aware of or notified about.
And this has been going on since 2020, it improved a little back then, but nothing was ever fixed.

It seems that not everything ProZ staff pays attention to.
The problem I identify above, which I've identified several times and which is frustrating, has been going on for a couple of years.
And yes, it has prevented me from using and enjoying KudoZ Help - a key service - as before. And like me many other colleagues.

Sorry to say this, Naiara, but you don't sound convincing enough.

While I do understand and agree that the issues I and others have reported may not affect our use of the site, the fact that they still haven't been solved does not reflect positively on how things are handled on ProZ. I mean, if you cannot solve minor glitches in a timely manner, how can we trust you'll be able to fix serious threats fast enough? | | | Issues solved | Dec 5, 2023 |

Let me clarify that urgent issues like KudoZ notifications, which is indeed affecting the use of the site, is placed as a priority one, however, these kind of issues take time to be fixed as, logically, all issues which affect big areas of the site need to be investigated, tested and fixed carefully despite their level of importance. Therefore, it is not a matter of priority but a matter of the time that fixing those wide site issues involve.
Hope you understand.

Historical job notifications may of course have some intellectual interest for curators, but they are not terribly helpful for translators or even the outsourcers paying to use the site, mistakenly believing they will receive a professional service.
As I did not renew my membership in August, I can't really complain, so this is only to support what others are saying, i.e. that Proz notifications are a gigantic mess.
One cannot reasonably dispute that IT bugs take a little bit of time to fix, but generally not weeks or months unless we are talking about a monstrous bureaucracy such as Microsoft. Having spent 20 years of my career as an IT specialist, most of which with another IT giant, carrying out tasks that included programming and debugging, I find the excuses from Proz excessive. In the best cases, an urgent bug can be fixed within a few hours. Others may take some days. The more stubborn ones that require specialist debugging may even take some weeks, but doesn't Proz have IT staff who understand the company's email notification system, or is it all a mess of old programs without any documentation, leaving current staff to set out on an archaeological expedition into the bowels of historical Proz software running mystical routines nobody understands? Many people have complained about missing notifications for a very long time, so why hasn't this been fixed properly long ago? ▲ Collapse | | | Post removed: This post was hidden by a moderator or staff member because it was not in line with site rule | Pages in topic: < [1 2 3 4] > | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Missing email notifications (Staff: Fixed) Anycount & Translation Office 3000 | Translation Office 3000
