That's good to know. I have that DVD too, but I didn't notice the Japanese characters on the case cover. The director was Clint Eastwood, I think.
The two movies tell the stories from either side of the war. It is very interesting to see the same battle scenes at the beach of Iwo Jima appear in different movies: one in Japanese soldiers eyes and the other in Americn GI's eyes.

Yes, I have that one too, except I haven't gotten around to watching either one.
