我慕名参观了当地的人民历史博物馆（People's History Museum) http://www.phm.org.uk/about-us/history/ 。里面陈述的悲壮事迹，图文并茂。令人感到好像跑进了时光隧道，看到二百年前用马队驱散践踏争取自由平等的人民；今天则有警棍、催泪弹和胡椒喷雾。

人类丑行不断的重复，时间恍如静止不动了。

政府用马队驱散践踏争取自由平等的人民，那不但是丑行而且还是暴行，但对某些扰乱社会秩序的暴徒使用警棍、催泪弹和胡椒喷雾，则属于 reasonable use of force。

Thanks for the cartoons. I seriously doubt that "capricious" is the meaning that the Chinese official intended while saying “大家都很任性”. By using a term such as "任性" in its newly-acquired sense, IMO he is actually doing himself and those in charge a disservice. Between his potential misuse of the term and the interpreter's misinterpretation, they are sending the wrong message to the outside world, i.e., the English(only)-speaking public - to those wh... 曼彻斯特唐人街／中国城 ／华埠的 Pi 坊来自其姊妹市中国武汉。这个以龙凤为主要题材的牌坊据说用了三个货柜箱运来在现场重新拼合。个人觉得好像宏伟过伦敦爵禄街 Gerrard Street 那两个牌坊。

始终觉得，市政府将 Gerrard 译成 “爵禄” 是一绝！（当然是以粤语译的咯。）

春节在曼城的 billboard 仍在主要入城的路口可以看到。左方的山羊寓意羊年在即，设计得不错！

说起 Manchester，我们这边也有30几个(吹牛上税 )。比如麻州的 Manchester (by-the-Sea), 是个非常漂亮的海边小城。
不过最值得一提的是被誉为 "the Manchester of America" 的 Manchester, New Hampshire；它真是英伦曼彻斯特奇迹般的完美拷贝。

我去过 New Hampshire 的 Manchester。New Hampshire 还有 Concord, Portsmouth, Durham, Dover，Exeter 等，其名称也对应于某些英国城镇。如你所知，New Hampshire 本身就属于 New England。New Hampshire 不收 income tax，不收 sales tax，但不知吹牛是否上税。

美国还有很多名为 Canton 的城镇，甚至还有 Shanghai City:
