See more

QHE,
Thanks for the cartoons. I seriously doubt that "capricious" is the meaning that the Chinese official intended while saying “大家都很任性”. By using a term such as "任性" in its newly-acquired sense, IMO he is actually doing himself and those in charge a disservice. Between his potential misuse of the term and the interpreter's misinterpretation, they are sending the wrong message to the outside world, i.e., the English(only)-speaking public - to those wh... The United States House of Representatives declared March 14 (3.14) to be National Pi Day in 2009. They passed resolution HR 224 to support the designation of a Pi Day and its celebration around the world; to remind the public of the importance of strong STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education as a vehicle to inspire ongoing innovation in the upcoming generation.

Life on a lifeboat isn’t much of a life. It is like an end game in chess, a game with few pieces. The elements couldn’t be more simple, nor the stakes higher. Physically it is extraordinarily arduous, and morally it is killing… You get your happiness where you can. You reach a point where you’re at the bottom of hell, yet you have your arms crossed and a smile on your face, and you feel you’re the luckiest person on earth. Why? Because at your feet you have a tiny dead fish. - Life of Pi
“If you stumble at mere believability, what are you living for? Isn’t love hard to believe?... Life is hard to believe, ask any scientist. God is hard to believe, ask any believer. What is your problem with hard to believe?”
“We’re just being reasonable.”
“So am I! I applied my reason at every moment… Nothing beats reason for keeping tigers away. But be excessively reasonable and you risk throwing out the universe with the bathwater.” - Life of Pi

The mathematical constant, which refers to the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter, gets a nod every March 14. Math groups meet annually for pie-eating contests and see how many digits they can recite from memory, but this year is extra special. Boston Globe ▲ Collapse

不过最值得一提的是被誉为 "the Manchester of America" 的 Manchester, New Hampshire;它真是英伦曼彻斯特奇迹般的完美拷贝。
QHE,
我去过 New Hampshire 的 Manchester。 如你所知,New Hampshire 本身就属于 New England。
Shanghai City:
